Not sure why Suns want to spend more money for an older player in basically a lateral move. But it would be a great move for the Hawks.[/QUOTE

If I'm the Suns, I make this move in a New York minute. Stoudemire is 23 years old, but he has logged some serious time on the shelf with injuries. They have won nothing with their three stars. Garnett is a beast. He does stay healthy and he shows up every night at both ends of the court. Phoenix hasn't been able to get past San Antonio and/or Dallas the last two years. Garnett can match Nowitski and Duncan, something Phoenix hasn't been able to do against those two when one on one. This move could pacify Marion and could be the big piece of the puzzle that gets them over the hump and to the top of the Western Conference.
The problem is that getting Garnett will cost the Suns at least 10 million a year more than Stoudemire. By doing that you assure that Marion will opt out because there is no way the Suns are going to be able to pay him. Plus I dont see Garnett as being that much better short term to justify killing your cap. Trading a 23 year old 1st team all NBA guy in his prime for a 32 year old guy who makes $22 mill a year is a tough deal.
