Happy birthday, guys! No surprise two horse-racing fans would be born today. Famous events on June 26th include:

Richard, Duke of Gloucester is crowned King Richard III. Later immortalized as "that crook'd back prodigy" by Shakespeare, his final words in "Richard III" are "A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!"

The boardwalk in Atlantic City, a mecca for gamblers, is completed.

President John F Kennedy greets the citizens of West Berlin with "Ich bin ein Berliner." Some people have claimed that due to poor pronounciation what he in fact said was, "I am a jelly doughnut." Jelly doughnuts have been consumed by many gamblers as they pore over the Racing Form.
