 Couple quick comments:
*Hialeah is about as close geographically to "Miami" as Hallandale / Gulfstream (so I would not "take shots" at Miami because of Hialeah).

*Calder is not exactly in a "great" neighborhood either (you go about one block west of the track and you better "pray for your life"). I don't have the stat's but I would guess that the crime rate around Calder exceeds a similar sized area around Hialeah Park. One difference is the ease of access to the major Thoroughfares like the Turnpike and 95. I don't necessarily translate the word Hialeah to crime personally (and I work 2 miles from Hialeah).

*Hialeah may have been a safe track for the horsemen to train / race and beautiful to watch the horses while running, but the 1st word that comes to my mind when I hear the name Hialeah Park is "toilet". Most Kennel Clubs and even Pompano Park have better "environments" for their patrons than Hialeah (example they have air conditioning). I would just as soon move the Super Bowl's away from Joe Robby er Pro Player er Dolphins Stadium and back to the Orange Bowl before I would take away a Breeders Cup (or any other major racing event) from Belmont, CD, etc and put it at Hialeah Park (at least the 1990's / 2000's version of Hialeah Park).
