It was a G1 win, and I am glad that he will now be famous for something other than being the only horse whose jock made him run 13f in the Kentucky Derby.
BUT, his visually impressive move on the far turn was a bit deceptive I think. He ran by a rabbit, a glorified Hawthorne specialist, and a horse in Wanderin Boy that always falls apart if he doesn't get his way on the front end. Not exactly what you might expect to run by in a G1. He had a very nice trip sitting 4th with a big gap between himself and the top 3 who zipped the opening half. The fact that he ran the final furlong in JUST under 13 seconds, (with the place and show horses gaining a good deal of ground on him) despite having such a good trip doesn't seem like a great sign to me either.
You certainly have to give the horse some credit. He has now won his last four races and they have come on four different racetracks, (and all of them had fairly decent sized fields) which isn't too bad for a horse that was running in two $40,000 N1X races a couple of months ago.
But he may be a solid bet-against in his next start, especially if they have their sights set on some of the big 10f races later in the year.
