If you make every stand a " dunce cap " type position you take the fun out of it. I will be wrong more often than I am right, but just as I don't expect accolades every time I am right, I certainly don't need to be made a fool ( or make one of myself ) every time I am wrong.

The simple fact is that people who waste money on the likes of Cowtown Cat in this Derby are foolish. They will lose their money ( just as I would in the cataclysmic event that Cowtown Cat even runs moderately well ) which is enough. Further humiliation isn't always necessary.

I wore the dunce cap once at Siro's last summer after declaring five or six times that if some big favorite won I would wear it the next day. Should I REALLY have had to wear it that one time?
