I hear ya....but 20 1/5ths, which two horses ran at the preview, is obviously an impossible time to achieve on a natural dirt surface.
Tiz Wonderful, Afrashad, Day Pass, and What A Song were all brilliantly fast Graded Stakes winners...and they makeup the handful of horses to achieve a 20 3/5th clocking.
The ultra-hyped Sea of Pleasure, who broke a track record at Santa Anita going 2 furlongs a few months ago, won his race by 4+ plus lengths, in 20.78 seconds, getting the last furlong in 9 3/5ths, and allegedly galloping out 3 furlongs in 32 seconds flat. After his workout at KEE, just yesterday it was reported he's injured.
I guess what I'm saying is that if I have to believe two horses could work a 1/4 mile in 20 1/5th over that surface---I guess I have to believe that One Hot Wish ran her 4.5 furlongs in 48.87 over that nutty surface---as she certainly put on a show in that race.
Of course, If I had a stop-watch handy, I'd hand time the race...as 4.5 furlong races are one of the easier races to hand-time off of a tv.
