Actually, Grand Splendour was important mostly as a link to Cequillo, one of the Tartan Farm matriarchs; GS herself only produced one SW in Canada. Cequillo produced 4 SWs (two major), two sons who became sires overseas (in South Africa and in Argentina), as well as her producing daughters. Grand Splendour's descendents include the most major winners (Commenable, Fappiano, Keeper Hill, Ogygian, and Honour and Glory), but Quiet Charm was second dam of G1 winners Quiet American and Dare and Go. (SInce Quiet American is by Fappiano, he has a double-dose of Cequillo. Totally Tartan.)
