EU TAMBEM, impressive winner of the final round of the MaktoumChallenge at Nad Al Sheba, could take on Asiatic Boy in the UAE Derby.
Trainer Ismail Mohammed is eyeing the Dubai World Cup itself with his ex-Brazilian-trained colt, who won Argentina’s dirt Derby before moving to Dubai, where he won Thursday‘s Group 2 in fine style under Kerrin McEvoy, beating Singing Poet an easy five lengths.
“The horse has come out of his race really well,” said Mohammed, who has thrived at the Dubai Carnival with 13 winners.
“It was a very pleasing effort on his UAE bow and he will hopefully have come on for the outing. I was very hopeful beforehand and he certainly did not let me down.
“I said earlier in the week that he was my Dubai World Cup horse if I had one and that race is still under consideration.
“I will talk to the owner though, and the UAE Derby is a definite possible - he is only three of course.”
