Does anyone else find this ridiculous? * If the track isn't safe, then no horse should be working on it.* To not know if it's safe for your new star 3 year old, and to find out by pulling your (granted not as good as he used to be, but still a Derby winner) Derby and Preakness winner, oh yeah, and *the horse who put you on the map* out to work, is despicable.* The article says Robin Smullen pronounced the track safe but harder than she'd like, so what happens if Funny Cide ends up with soreness because of this?* Who cares, but if NoBiz Like Shobiz does, look out! The owners of Funny Cide need to retire him, or at the least, give him to someone who will take proper care of him and spot him well, or, at the very least, not risk his health and safety.
Funny Cide has been treated like royalty by Tagg. He's a healthy horse preparing to start his yes, 7 year old season. He was spotted very well last year, and his steps up are most likely Sackatoga decisions and not Taggs. Other than the GPH and Woodward, every other start by FC last year was a grade 3, ungraded or restricted stake or allowance. REtire him??? For what reason?? He won over 200,000 dollars last year. Granted not over a million like his 3 or 4 yr old years...but still a pretty nice haul for the old guy.
