Congrats to Mr. Wilson!
I love the "old timers" that you meet at the track... one of my favorites at Bay Meadows is "Razo". He's the guy that monitors the crossing by the paddock between the Grandstand and Clubhouse. Razo used to be a quarterhorse jockey back in the 50's and he rode at all the small tracks throughout the west coast. Another great person at BM is "Stella", she pours beers at the concessions stand on the Grandstand side. Stella's husband was a jock and her sons are all involved in the industry. Stella is about *four foot something* and pours a perfect beer - no head and filled to the top. People at the track just don't tip Stella (or even Razo) the way they deserve.
Folks, if there's anyone at the track whose service you appreciate, tip them well... a lot of these folks are old time horse people who are surviving on social security and what little they make at the track. Take the time to talk with them because they stories they have to tell are absolutely priceless!
