Long before I was a fan (only six or seven at the time) Arcangues came in at 133/1 in the Classic under Jerry Bailey. Still love hearing him tell the story of that race, about how the connections gave him the race instructions in French (how true the story is i dont know) and he had no clue what they said to him. Didnt run much at all after that in the US though

"...here comes Arcangues to win in an absolute shocker!!! He's 99/1 in the $3,000,000 Classic!!!..."

But.....my favorite longshot of all time is Rick's Natural Star in the 1996 BC Turf, but for some reason he was only 56/1 coming out of cheap claiming races in New Mexico, Arizona, etc. Dunno why he wasnt 1,000,000/1 - didnt have a chance in hell...stupid bettors! Anyone know why he ran in the BC by the way - never understood that placement
