Not really a complaint from me. Just an observation that it seemed unusual on what seemed to be a perfect day for racing. As for the trainers "just playing games." I think the game that they are playing is to consider the best interests of the horses and the owners and of course themselves and to do so and make a profit so maybe they can be forgiven for placing us fans a little further down the ladder of consideration. As for me personally, I wasn't much harmed except a little confusion about whether my wager would be considered in a pick 4 including the 3 horse race. Consulted the rules later and found out that it would have been, but didn't matter as I would not have had that $94 winner in the turf race. Did manage to make a real world profit on the feature race with a small exacta and even a place and show on the 48-1 show horse. Those longshot plays don't usually pay off for me, but sometimes hard to resist putting a couple of dollars on them. In a race, that seemed like it would be pretty fast early, it seemed to make sense to put a few dollars on a closer that nobody liked.
