Stop what? I acknowledged the horse was probably empty regardless, but how is that an excuse that the rider didn't even touch the horse until way
after you claim the horse was done? He didn't even make an attempt to get a response from the horse, and obviously wasn't concerned something was amiss since he decided to give the horse a whack in deep stretch. So yes, it is a bit bemusing to me because what was the point of taking out the whip late when the horse was done and he hadn't tried once to get a response from the horse before? FWIW I thought the horse was a massive underlay and didn't use him at all, I just don't understand the logic in that or the idea it's "acceptable" to not ride a horse out just because they're not in winning contention. There are other placings that are important for wagers too...but I guess it's also OK that in R8 at KEE Saez stopped riding the 3 over the final 70 yards and got beaten for 3rd on the wire? All those tri and super players who needed the 3 for 3rd shouldn't feel too aggrieved, the horse wasn't going to win anyways!
