Great article in the TDN a couple years ago discussing the use of ESWT to treat concussive injuries like suspensory problems, sore shins, tendonitis, and sacroiliac issues.

Cliff Notes version - The jury is out on it's efficacy, it is painful, and horses treated this way are between 54 to 79% more likely to suffer a catastrophic breakdown per a study in Scotland - basically due to the fact that they are attempting to treat an injury or defect that compromises the horse's soundness in the first place.
