There is something that has not made sense to me through this entire jockey COVID outbreak. We are watching baseball, basketball, and hockey attempt to restart and they are doing much of their work in so-called "bubbles", effectively trying to create spheres of group isolation.
It is somewhat shocking that not only state agencies have not mandated a "one track per jockey" policy, but the jockeys themselves have not asked for such a mandate. Let me give you a concrete example. If you have a jockey at Belmont who has been working hard to scrape together mounts in the afternoon, should that individual be exposed in this time to the traveling jockey colony going up and down the coast and across country?
For example, did John Velazquez really need to ride at Keeneland yesterday with Saratoga right around the corner? The "essential worker" concept is being stretched with these interstate travellers not being required to sit a 14-day quarantine period.
