Hard to understand how two racetracks located fairly close together like Del Mar and Santa Anita could be so different as far as the safety of the horses is concerned, but Santa Anita seems to always have had some problems. I remember when they had the poly they had some sort of drainage problems. I was able to go there in 2017. It is a magnificent old race track. Designed by the same guy that did the Los Angeles Coliseum, I think.
