Specifically tuned in to listen to the last three races at the final table. Some of the most interesting discussion to me included these two topics :
[1] Whether the leader should try to "block" the second place contender by trying to take away the most likely longshot/cap-horse ... and ...
[2] The fact that there was only five minutes between Golden Gate's eighth race and the Santa Anita tournament finale.
The strategies involved were intriguing.
Several of the photos from the scene show laptops fully engaged. How many of the participants, particularly at the final table, have Excel spreadsheets to allow them to model the "what-if" scenarios of competing players choosing specific horses? There seems to be as much psychology in those final few races as handicapping.
