The horses have been taken care of since authorities came on the scene earlier this month...not all of these horses belonged to Borel or her father, if any..
"Owners of horses on the Mercer County property will need to present proof of ownership to law enforcement before they will be allowed to take custody of the animals, as county officials “don't want to drop the ball on culpability” in the case. The remaining animals, whose ownership may be unknown, could be declared “abandoned” by the county attorney, at which point they could be seized. Ford said he has already been contacted by several facilities interested in housing and rehabilitating however many are left."
"It is “not unusual” for horses to remain in place during a cruelty investigation, according to Ford, as moving them may prove dangerous or stressful to horses in fragile condition. Often, law enforcement works to improve conditions for them on-site instead. In this case though, he said it's clear that the horses in poor condition need more advanced care than what they can receive at the farm."
