Quite a telling piece at Charlie Hayward's thoroughbredracing.com (@TRCommentary on twitter).. Chris Smith came to Cup like any other International journalist with certain hackneyed tropes in mind and left with a different perspective. Like many of the other phony agenda-driven maxims (lies) that are perpetuated ad nauseum ('International buyers aren't interested in American bloodstock'), the idea that there isn't an eager audience for star equine athletes in this country was nonsense. Actuially strange that this would come as such a surprise given the run of Cigar, Smarty Jones, Rachel and Zenyatta, etc., over the last 20 years.
Be sure to read this. The scum that spend 24/7 on the internet spitting in our collective soup won't.. But they don't breed, sell, own, train or bet anyway. They'd like everyone to think they do, but they don't.

Just one trip to watch racing Stateside has opened my eyes. The sport, the industry may be in crisis in the U.S., but don’t worry it’s going to disappear. It won’t. And its future is probably a lot rosier than the one facing many of the racing nations in Europe, including the U.K.
