For attracting the interest of the general public, the yokel with the cheap horse is a better story.
For me, I once had stronger opinions about whether a horse deserved it. I didn't like Big Brown's connections, so I wasn't upset when he lost. I hated the idea of a name like I'll Have Another up with eloquent names of winners past, so I wasn't upset when he scratched, blah blah blah. Now, I just want to see a TC happen so much that I don't really care about either. Satan could run a horse named Snot House and I'd be hoping he could pull off the hat trick.
Okay, okay, the misspelling of "pharaoh" does bother me a bit. But I still want AP to win.
