Satish Seemar suffered double heartache in the two big races at Abu Dhabi on Sunday, after finding just one too good in both National Day Cup races.
The master of Zabeel saddled National Captain and Ace to finish second and third behind King Jock in the Listed race for thoroughbreds. And earlier, Velte ran a great race on his seasonal bow to finish second in the Group One equivalent for Purebred Arabians.
"The horses ran very well, and obviously went close to repeating last year, when we won both races," said Seemar.
"I think Ace may have found this mile trip a bit sharp as he looks more of a 10-furlong horse, and also this was probably the sharpest track he's ever run on in his life.
"We may look to run him in the carnival on January 25, or before in the Jebel Ali Stakes [on December 22].
