Trainer Laurie Laxon came back from his recent trip to New Zealand with the sad news that his former top galloper Waikato had died three months ago.

During his latest yearly holiday back home, the nine-time Singapore champion trainer just casually asked how his old champion was doing only to be told he was found dead in a paddock at Pencarrow Stud after a thunderstorm.
