Monster Drive...

this is a extreamley talented ny bred, i think this horse has a huge future and a huge shot at beating any given saturday, this saturday at tampa bay downs in the sam f. davis.

this horse broke his maiden in a very solid time last time out at aqueduct, and i have herd very good things from a few ppl regarding this horse.

It was fast but it was still a statebred maiden and he only won by 1.25 lengths. Granted the second place horse did come back to win next out. It's a big jump in distance against a very good horse in Any Given Saturday. I'd save your money for someone else.

Also, his last race went very fast early and came home very slow which doesn't suggest that stretching out will be particularly effective.

the breeding says he will stretch out, also i have never been high on any given saturday... and mott is very conservative so maiden score to this i think is a sign that this horse might be something

Well getting second here isn't going to be much tougher than a state bred allowance and it will pay as well without costing him a condition so that might be something there. Maybe he went too fast early last time and will settle here and be able to last 8.5 furlongs but I won't be betting on it.

see i look at it alot different, i have never liked any given saturday, nothing at all against the horse, and if he wins saturday then my opinion will possibly change, but like you said he will be 1-5 and i just think that this ny bred is ready i have a funny feeling that this horse can win this race.

Go with it but I'll be very surpised if Any Given Saturday gets beat and even if he were to get beat there are some I'd take a shot on before Monster Drive.

im not going to bet it.. taking some time off

Monster Drive is an inbred motha...

I'm sorry, but I just don't see him beating Any Given Saturday.

Anyone concerned about the gap in works? Is that normal for Mott? I can't see him being fit to go 8.5 furlongs off those works alone but obviously Mott may be the type that puts a lot of hard unpublished works into his horses.

hoovesupsideyourhead 02-16-2007 10:42 AM

he has been known to work a contender 7 days apart when pointing..to a race..

Those two are fine. It is the fact that after his last race on 12/15 they brought him back for one 3 furlong work on 1/18 and then he didn't work again until 2/5. Can you really get a horse ready to stretch out 2.5 furlongs off an 8 week layoff from two 5 furlongs works? I'd think you'd want at minimum three works in a row. If the horse had just raced on 1/18 I wouldn't be as concerned but it raises a big red flag for me unless Mott is known as someone that works horses hard in unpublished works.
