If you don't like the figures thats fine but don't take a shot at a guy who is the most knowledgeable T.V. persona for the game. He has been around a long while and definetly knows what the heck he is talking about as evidenced by getting his figures published in the DRF.

Thank you...couldn't have said it better myself.

Aside from the above statements, Randy Moss has been making figures for many years as part of Beyer Associates, and he has been working tirelessly in developing these pace figures for years now. Pace figures can be an incredibly useful instrument for any player and I think anybody playing would be wise to at least take an opportunity to find out for themselves.

Whatever works for you as a player is fine but in a game that is very tough to come even close to beating it will never hurt to understand as many facets of the game as possible. These figures could absolutely help handicappers understand how races were run in the past and perhaps how they will be run in the future.

seems like a nice guy with a genuine passion for the game, but most knowledgeable? LOL strongly disagree there!

Which mainstream TV personality do you find more knowledgable than Randy? I'm actually curious.

disappearingdan_akaplaya 02-11-2007 11:13 PM

for starters jeanine edwards

I think she does a terrific job but I also believe Randy is more knowledgable about the game, especially from a player's perspective, and I would hazard a guess that Jeanine Edwards would probably agree.

well again i strongly disagree and i think randy's on air handicapping is absolutely brutal and i would hazard a guess that many agree with me on that

I don't know playa, he picks the bud longshot and there was a time where he hit like 6 in a row or something some time back, not only that but his reasoning is solid. Solid consistent correct reasoning is the only way to beat this game....

Personally I think Randy Moss is the best thing that ever happened to racing on mainstream television. However, that is irrelevent to the real discussion of this thread. Pace figures in general can be a real asset to any serious player and I think people here owe it to themselves to at least take a look at them and see if they can incorperate them into their handicapping. Every one of us can become better players and if not make more money then lose less. How can that be bad?

Under races of the week section on the DRF you can also choose to download PP's with or without the Moss Pace Figures to give them a try.

i feel more confident in my selections when i'm watching and moss chooses the same horse! i think he is very knowledgable, and he and jeanine are a formidable duo on-air.

I think Moss is pretty much the only Positive with respect to on-air racing (exluding TVG and all the other dish/cable networks) broadcasts. With that being said, i think the worst thing for horse racing is Kenny Maine. He's..... brutal with his dry awkward jokes that don't get picked up on by colleagues . The worst, is when they show a re-run of a race run previously in the day and he says "not gonna tell ya, watch out for ..." basically ruins the whole f*cking race, might as well just look at the damn chart. Oh yeah, he's also an automatic hedge in my book, he can't cap for sh!t
Jeanine Edwards has some smarts (and a hell of a pair of legs), I believe she was on the MD circuit for a while before she was called up to the big leagues. As far as her capping, i don't think she brings much to the table.... she does interviews, tells how the horses are acting/looking, then her day is done. She = Charlsy Canty
