Highest 2yo Turf Beyer ever?

Does anyone ever remember a horse running a higher Beyer at age 2, on turf, than the 102 by Barbaro in the Laurel Futurity?

The only one I know of besides Barbaro, to have ever run a triple digit turf Beyer at age 2 was Incurable Optimist.

He ran a 101 Beyer when he won the Grade 3 Generous Stakes by 9 lengths on the Hollywood Park Turf in '98. He ran his turf record to a perfect 4-for-4 that day. It would be the final race of his career.

He actually won his turf debut by 14 lengths at Saratoga, in an open MSW race...and took three more stakes after that. Here is a blurry and badly scanned look at his form.....

I found one that ties it! Peace Rules ran a 102 Beyer on December 28th in the 8 furlong Hill Rise Stakes at Santa Anita. Future Breeders Cup Mile winner Singletary was 2nd.

Peace Rules was moved to the dirt in his next start---and took a tough Lousianna Derby at 9/1 odds over Funny Cide, Kafwain, and Badge of Silver. He won the Blue Grass after that and than finished 3rd in the Kentucky Derby.

Peace Rules was the 3/1 favorite in the Breeders Cup Mile...inspite of not having run on the turf in 11 months.

He was one of four Bobby Frankel trained horses to lose as the post time favorite, in a Breeders Cup race, that year

Aldebaran was the favorite in the sprint.

Aldebaran could've run second to Dr. Fager and he'd probably run second to a sharp NW2X horse.

Going corporate are we? Krispy Kreme? They are so 2000.....

Krispy Kreme was the first company astute enough to sponcer me.

I'm sure many more will follow.....

It sure did take Aldebaran quite a while to shake that "seconditis" label he had.

One of the better NYB's of all time.

Was going to mention Peace Rules, but you already covered it... turf speed figures are generally about as useless as tits on a bull but that Laurel Futurity blows my mind every time I see it. That was the race that got me on Barbaro in the Derby last year, along with his determination in the Fla. Derby (which, speed wise, was only moderate.)

wygiela?...

I do agree that final time figures are a far more useful tool in dirt racing.
