Thoughts, guys? I'm going up there on Saturday, probably. They have a Mr. Livingston filly that I'm dying to see. :o

I think they shot themselves in the foot when they created a 10K minimum bid required for the select sessions...the RNA rate was 60% in the first session.

Tell me what 487 looks like.

Hip #113 has a cool name. "Jamie's Song."

Rudeboyelvis 01-19-2007 09:31 AM

I looked at the results for the first day - didn't seem like a lot of interest...a lot of buy backs.
One yearling that was kind of astonishing was hip 14#,
He's by Pleasant Tap, out of a Danzig mare that has foaled a colt that set the track record @ KEE for 6 1/2 F.
Granted, no BT on the dam side, but the colt went for 14K. Pleasant Tap's s stud fee last year, if i recall correctly, was 15K (10k for his '07 book)

I guess the poor guy has three legs...

I saw that... that's crazy.

I'm bringing my Dad up there with me... he's never been to a sale before. I told him to bring his check book. HAHA

Well, goes to show I don't look close enough huh? I wanted to know what the Skippy baby looked like. If he looked like his daddy or not.

Buffymommy 01-19-2007 12:25 PM

Dang! I could have gotten that colt for $7,000? DANG IT!

The sale was SLOW... TONS of RNA's and a lot of No Bids. Disappointing for the breeders. :(

With that said, best looking yearlings I saw all day were by Trippi, Mr. Livingston and Freud. Hip #858 (RNA) will be a winner. Mark my words...

Also, the full brother to Unbridled's Song, Spanish Steps, had a few yearlings in the sale that also looked very good. They went for pocket change. I only wish I had the money to afford to board and train a yearling right now. It would have been the perfect time to buy one.

Oh yeah... three other stallions that had a couple of nice looking babies... Alke, Repent and Running Stag.

where do you go to see the results. I wonder what the Strawberry Road mare went for. Looks like she is hit and miss on being bred

One of my partners picked up a Touch Gold broodmare in foal to Milwaukee Brew (hip 752). Guess the idea is to bring her to NY, and then breed her back to a NY stallion next year, which under the rules, would make this year's foal a NY bred.

She's fairly young, unraced, and aborted last year, and MB's first crop are 2yo's this year. Red flags all over the place.

On the positive side, he paid 11k for her, and MB's stud fee is 10k. If his first crop turns out to have a decent 2yo campaign, the yearling will fetch a premium at the Saratoga sale being a NY bred from a sought after stallion.

Just sent you a message Elvis

The mare I thought looked interesting Mustique #1111 sired by Strawberry Road did not sale. I think they wanted $7,500 for her if I read the sheet correctly. Is that a lot? I guess she is too much of a known quanity
Hey, if she was popping out Grade 1 winners left n right she wouldn't be for sale.

Looks like the SAARLAND horse was withdrawn. To bad I'm sure he has great potential
