I am going to play a four horse super box and hope it all works out.

There has got to be some type of rule change instituted that says graded stakes must have fields with at least six (though eight would be ideal) horses. Too many medicore horses are able to win grade II and grade III races because of the small field sizes. Once you have two horses engage in a pace battle up front, the lousiest of horses can come in and win. All this does is increase the animals stud fee when it retires when in all reality they haven't proven anything on the track.

oh man -- that's insane.

txshorns02 01-18-2007 03:14 PM

I thought only the NY tracks have 4-5 horse fields in a graded stacks race...guess i was wrong:eek:

eurobounce 01-18-2007 03:14 PM

SIGH - The current state of racing when you have 65.7% of eligible races graded.

I hope Frankel scratches To Sender because he's getting in two pounds too heavy or some other sweet excuse.

Pillow is that Big Baby Jesus

PaulRyansew 01-18-2007 06:48 PM

Could be worse... this could be a historic, million dollar, G1 race with only 4 runners... :D

It happens more often in Cally than here.

Palos Verdes = CRAP

C'mon guys, calling this race crap is totally unfair to crap.:D

SniperSB23 01-18-2007 11:49 PM

Did anyone look to see that there is a 12 horse field in an allowance sprint on Friday? 12 horses are going to duel it out for $50,000 but no one else wanted to enter this race for a guaranteed check?

goingtothewhip 01-19-2007 12:06 AM

They must be dodging someone (FI or Harvard Ave?) or more probable..... those who claim CA/FL chose the 6F Sunshine Millions sprint for $300k next SAT.

With the Sunshine Millions sprint taking place at SA this year, this race has obviously been victimized.

I remember trying to find a horse for this race---when I was putting together my roster for the TVG Fantasy stable thingy---it was pretty obvious at the start of the month that this race was going to be a disgrace for a Grade 2.

I wound up picking Jungle Prince thinking it could come up so weak he would win. Unfortunately his connections didn't have the foresight I did and didn't even nominate him.

All I know is that in my opinion the small field puts Harvard Avenue at a disadvantage and Friendly Island in the drivers seat. I really like Harvard Avenue but I don't think this will set up well for him at all.
