Best 3 piece rock band

I was cleaning out the basement and I found my old Rush lbums. I am talking about albums like All The Worlds A Stage, RUSH, A Farewell To King's, Fly By Night, Exit Stage Left etc etc. Of course, I put them on the old turntable and rocked out to some classic rush. I was rocking out with Neil Pert during is drums solos--man, that boy can play. This made me remember all the debates I would have with my former employees (young and not so young). We all came to an agreement that the top three 3 peice bands are RUSH, NIRVANA and THE POLICE. Out of those 3, who do you prefer and if you want to add any please do so.

Wow...pretty much all of them! I loved White Room, one of my favorite songs!

Hellooooo? Kingston Trio, anyone?

(Okay, totally kidding, though I confess they are a wee bit of a guilty pleasure for me)

In seriousness, I would say Buddy Holly and the Crickets, since they pioneered a lot of stuff used by later three-piece bands. :)

Me likey Green Day. And me likey XTC.

And again...I forgot that The Experience was Jimi and two others....my bad! They certainly belong near the top!

We talked about Green Day but we always dismissed them because they do have a 4th member of the band. He has been part of their group for over 10 years now. He isnt part of the original group, but he is there with them on all of their songs after their first album. I always forget about Jimi. Man, he was truly a gifted musician.
