there has to be some way to get a playoff/championship type deal going in college football.
length of season has been supposedly an issue...surely they can tinker with the schedule of regular season games if necessary.
also, how long is the ncaa basketball season? and they have a championship series...how does ncaa football stack up to them in terms of season length? i don't follow basketball, so i don't know much about the length of season or amount of games played.

Danzig, Most teams start in mid-late november, play around 30 games
or so. Most conference championships end late Feb to mid March.
March Madness last about 3 weeks and ends in early April

well in that case, can the ncaa really argue that length of season would be a detriment to football and the players? after all, bowls are mostly around the holidays-an extended break for college students...so their education wouldn't really be impacted, correct?
and really, how many football players are really at school for their education, and not the game?

It all comes down to the money $$$$ these schools make from
playing in bowl games. Playoff system works in Div IAA, 2, and 3.

Only players maybe their for education or some Pac 10, ACC, Big Ten,
Military Acadamies and I hate to say Notre Dame teams.

from what i read, the bowls would still be there--whether they would suffer at all i don't know....but yeah, it is a huge money maker. lsu and dame got 17 mill a piece for the sugar bowl. unbelievable the amount of $ being generated.
