EB I hope you are right, one of tracks I look forward
to each year. If they don't have it their losing out
on great racing.

I am trying to find out. My buddy at CDSI got laid off and he always had this type of information.

Just makes things easier. With GP and SA already on HRTV and now OP, really the FG is the only reason to watch TVG at all in the winter and some of their cards are less than spectacular. My TV will be tuned to HRTV until April.

TVG is WAY better than HRTV in my opinion. I'm really disappointed that SA, GS and now Oaklawn is being shown on the latter.

TVG does have Northfield Park, so take that HRTV

If you like hosts who babble endlessly about their selections and P4 tickets, TVG is the channel. I prefer HRTV where the hosts realize the program is about racing, not them.

Actually I think TVG gives better coverage of the horses in the paddock and I do like Lyon's sense of humor. All personal preference of course. :)

Jeff Siegle (spelling) is the best handicapper on either HRTV or TVG. The Quarters is the best show that TVG has. I will say that TVG does go to the track and international tracks and it is good to see the broadcast from where they are. Both have good and bad sides, but it sure is better than having to drive to the OTB to watch a race.

smuthg 01-05-2007 09:22 AM

According to the TVG website, Oaklawn is still listed as one of their tracks...

SniperSB23 01-05-2007 09:51 AM

I've got TVG, HRTV, and Capital OTB. As long as the races are on at least one of the three then I'm happy. I've done everything possible to cover myself from missing anything.

I emailed TVG this morning and here is the response I was given.

"Thank you for contacting TVG! Right now we are still in negotiations to have Oaklawn and have no news yet if any agreement has been met."

I really don't care who has Oaklawn. I'm not sure about some of you, but I'm just thankful both HR and TVG are available. Just think what it would be like if they weren't around. Competition between the two can only help, right?

eurobounce 01-05-2007 10:24 AM

Well TVG is starting to see their contracts with tracks expire. You have to remember that when TVG started, they had exclusive rights because there wasnt any real competition. Now HRTV (Frank) is outbidding TVG (GemStar). Churchill's contract is up next year. Be real interesting to see what happens then.

I thank God every day for 4 things:

That my wife is not crazy
That my boss is not crazy
That I have HRTV and TVG;)

When is DirecTV going to step up acquire HRTV? I have e-mailed them several times and no one there seems to understand the difference between the two...

Stuball 01-05-2007 05:31 PM

anyone regularly attend Oaklawn? Especially on the weekends?

Left Bank 01-05-2007 10:12 PM

I kinda wish HRTV would fix their picture. It always seems to be real fuzzy and unclear, unlike TVG's.

I'd say the earliest would be 4Q 2007/Early 2008.

Once the new sats go up they'll have nearly unlimited bandwidth.
