New York City hero

I just saw on the local news- a guy having a seizure fell onto the subway tracks with a train coming and a second guy leaped in after him and squished them both into the trough as the train went over them. They both were unharmed.

THAT takes guts. The man who saved them both has two little girls who were on the platform and saw the whole thing. Fat chance any boy they meet down the road is going to be able to measure up to their dad after that... :)

wow..thats unreal..the guts..

Downthestretch55 01-03-2007 09:12 AM

He's not just a hero...he's an angel!
My guess is that they come along when needed.
Wow!!

GR,
Speaking of a "runaway train", you'll need to scroll the comments to #24.
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/03/...ical-decision/

What would happen if there was a "people's strike" on Feb 2, 2007?
The day that the ground hog sticks his head out from his hole, does or doesn't see his scarey shadow, but only that everyone hasn't shown up for work. The people have spoken once. Perhaps they need to speak again.
Somehow, this insanity must end.
Mad men don't listen. They justify.
If our great nation derives it's just powers from the consent of the governed, perhaps voicing discontent is the only option. Feb 2, 2007.
Stay home.

Agreed...

Perhaps we can start another Bush "hate" thread for all of the garbage to go. God knows there isn't enough of them...

Pirate this thread?
Did you notice who I addressed my comment to?
Let Genuine Risk speak for herself. She is more than capable of an appropriate response, when, alas, others aren't.
Who is the real "pirate"?
Discuss issues, not personalities. GEESH!

Definition of a true hero...no doubt.

DTS...not trying to upset you or anything here, but I think I speak for alot of people when I mention this to you. We all get the point about you wanting to "speak the truth",etc....but I don't think the constant links are needed on the great majority of threads that are posted in the political/social isssues forum. Nicole was simply making us aware of an incredible act of kindness and bravery on one mans part. To even bring any kind of political discussion to this thread is simply uncalled for, and I feel I speak for alot of people when I say that.

There is no intent to offend you and I hope I haven't, but please trust me when I tell you that EVERYONE on here is well aware of where you stand and your agenda. Toning it down a bit would not be the worst thing you ever did.

Just a friend trying to give friendly advice,

Kev

OK...as if I don't start enough of them.
Carry on.

Okay, okay, I'll respond. :)

DTS, you know you and I are very much in the same area of the political spectrum, and I know how frustrating it's been the past few years to feel like you're the only saying, "Wait... don't you see... this isn't working..." and have other people ask you why you hate our freedom in return. But I started this thread purely as a, "Here's something really nice and amazing that happened" sort of thing that people could read and be touched that a human being could be so brave and quick-thinking. And you posted a terrific link to the story-- much more detail than I saw on TV. But unfortunately, when any of us toss in a political tangent, people are going to get irritated, and then we lose the point of the thread, which was, wasn't it amazing, what this guy did. Which makes me feel bad.

Please, keep posting political stuff- I really do read almost all of your posts (including the one asking me to post the sand tart recipe; I'm just suffering from chronic laziness right now), but if you would, start a new thread in cases like this? Maybe it's just 'cause I'm a champ at compartmentalizing (much to the chargin of some of my ex-boyfriends), but I like that here I can read a political thread and get all riled up about something Rupert says, for example, and then hop over to the racing boards and happily read his racing posts, without any spill-over. I don't post as much on the racing board because I don't have near the knowledge of most of the people here, but I sure do read the threads.

(Though, of course, I'm sure many remember my Lou Ferrigno over the Lawyer Ron thread last summer getting hijacked...)

My apologies.

None necessary, DTS; I don't think I'd ever said anything about it before (other than where it regarded Lawyer Ron :) ).

He certainly did a great thing. Reading the link to the cbsnews article DTS posted about the guy, what amazed me was him saying how he decided to move the guy having the seizure into the trough-- I can't fathom being able to think that quickly, but the fact that this guy was actually having a thought process while he's trying to keep a seizuring man still WHILE a train is bearing down on him is just amazing to me.

dr. fager 01-05-2007 09:10 AM

He was to be on Letterman last night, anyone catch it?

I also heard Trump gave him 10K....surprised Rosie didn't try to one up him.
