Gallant Fox at Aqu

Any opinions?

blackthroatedwind 12-29-2006 05:48 PM

Overall it is a horrendous field and Angliana has been against it twice in a row and looks much the best to me.

Gander 12-29-2006 05:55 PM

Thanks for your take on it. You should get a great price on Angiliana.

People are already lining up outside Aqueduct to bet CC Lopez on Park Avenue Prince.

blackthroatedwind 12-29-2006 06:00 PM

I assume Angliana will be the favorite. He looks pretty obvious on paper.

Gander 12-29-2006 06:03 PM

Successful Romance will be the favorite in my opinion. Has a couple very strong races in a row (going marathon distance) and his trainer cant seem to lose these days. Havent looked at the morning line but will check out for kicks.

Gander 12-29-2006 06:06 PM

1 Win With Beck (NY)
Michael J. Luzzi
9/2

2 Successful Affair (NY)
Ramon A. Dominguez
7/5

3 Park Avenue Prince (VA)
Charles C. Lopez
2/1

4 Angliana (KY)
Jose A. Santos
4/1

5 Malibu Moonshine (FL)
Eddie M. Martin, Jr.
12/1

6 Angelic Aura (FL)
Shaun Bridgmohan
2/1

blackthroatedwind 12-29-2006 06:10 PM

Whoever is responsible for that line is clueless.

Probably some friend of mine.

Gander 12-29-2006 06:15 PM

Probably Eric Donovan?
Well here is mine:

Successful Romance 1/1
Angelic Aura & Park Prince 3/1
Angliana 7/2
Win with Beck 6/1
Malibu Moonshine 15/1

blackthroatedwind 12-29-2006 06:17 PM

Well, he's a friend of mine, and it's a tough job, but I will be shocked if Angliana is lower than second choice and certainly he will be much shorter than Win With Beck.

I hope I'm wrong.

Gander 12-29-2006 06:19 PM

Him and Jason Blewitt seem like nice kids. They have a good passion for this sport. Good to see those guys on Talkin Horses. I watch whenever I can.

Successful Affair, should be the favorite and will win for fun.

Everyone is entitled to their own bad opinion.

They are both very good guys.

PSH 12-29-2006 06:43 PM

Agree Angliana

All he has to do is run back to those sheet zeros 2 and 3 races ago and he wins for fun...

Were there any excuses last race?

Closest sheet figure is Successful Affair at 2.

PSH

blackthroatedwind 12-29-2006 06:47 PM

Two back he chased outside against a slow pace on a track favoring inside speed and last time he also chased outside against a HUGE inside bias. Plus, as opposed to the other members of tomorrow's field, he actually raced against reasonable horses.

The distance is always a question but he looks strong to me....at least on paper. He will certainly be no worse than second choice and I don't think it's impossible that he's favored. Successful Affair? Come on....he just won a conditional $16K claimer....after being vanned off in his prior start. That Contessa....he must be some trainer! Who knew?

Ah yes, this race needs to go back to the days of Coyote Lakes.
NYRA needs to bring back the Display Handicap; two miles and a quarter.

The directions were good to the Big A, BTW. Other than a little backed up traffic on the Belt Parkway, we got there at noon driving from Newark Airport at 10:30 am. The Big A isn't one of the more pleasant track though. The crowd was what you would find at a local OTB and the Clubhouse sure isn't Saratoga. THEY really need to get VLT's there and quick! Just before the 5th race on Thursday, water pour down from the third floor near one of the concession stands. The security just put a couple of trash cans there to catch the water. I left after that for the long ride back upstate. Well, I've
been to all three NYRA tracks, won't likely be going there soon again.
