Second of June in CD return Friday

Bill Cesare's Second of June tries to re-boot his career tomorrow at CD in a very intriguing ALW that also features Suave...

Never the same after the epic duel with Read the Footnotes... And of course Footnotes was never the same either..

I loved that horse. I think the trainer's mom owns the horse.

Same here. Would love to see him miraculously find that early 3-yr-old form again.

it seems like there is alweays a race where the top 2 year olds go head to head at thewire and one or both get injured.
this year is was Bro derek and steviewonderhorse, they ran at one another a number of times till the one was injured in late fall.

Steve, I dont know your take on that race, I think it was the Fountain of Youth? But, WHAT A BATTLE. Looking back over the last few years, I am not sure I have seen quite a duel between horses. It was quite something, and as you say, neither horse has been the same since, now two years after the fact. Interesting.

SS,

It was the FOY.. It was as great a head-to-head duel as we've seen in recent years. It was the year before they tore up the GP main too, so it was when the surface was still a highway with sand on top. It took June more than a year to recover from the effort, as he made two strong runs versus top company last year in the New Orleans (Badge/Limehouse) and Oaklawn (Grand Reward) equaling and surpassing his Thoro-Graph "0" earned in the Fountain. Footnotes NEVER recovered...

Suave, who was dreadful in the Donn and GPH so far this year, should be very tough here too... He's working up a storm.

Loved that FOY and hated to see him go to the sidelines. Here's hoping he's healthy enough to show the talent he displayed that day.

Well now there's a companion race to add to the Fountain..

Second of June runs Suave to the wire the length of the stretch... Gets nosed. Gutty effort once more.
