(Only sound is that of GR repeatedly banging her head against a wall)

Looks like David Duke headed out to that conference. Well, you shall know a man by the company he keeps...

the thing that terrifies me is that he is brilliant too. for as smart as he is, the denying the holocaust thing baffles me.

remember when he spoke at the UN? Brilliant. For as much as he hates us, there's no denying his raw intelligence and he's quite the gamesman in politics.

the two are a scary proposition.

GR,
I posted about David (KKK) Duke's attendance yesterday, but the thread was deleted.
More interesting is the vatican weighing in. Some forget Pius XII, so I'll post a link. Also, remember that the current Pope was a member of Hitler Youth.

Well, of course he's smart. So is Lex Luthor.

Denying the Holocaust is a very smart thing to do if you're anti-Jew. They were absolutely victims in WW2-- I can't figure out how one could hold them culpable in what happened to them. The perfect victims. Which throws some cold water on the whole anti-Semitism thing. So what is an anti-Semite to do? Why, deny the Holocaust ever happened! Then they can all go back to hating Jews without having to feel guilty about it.

What I find so interesting is that that is the only Holocaust people are so eager to disbelieve. Maybe because it's the only one people actually bother to remember?

skippy3481 12-13-2006 10:12 AM

Your right brian, he is brilliant, which is why this is so scary.

GenuineRisk 12-13-2006 10:31 AM

Speaking of anti-Semitism, and religious zealotry...

Can I say, WTF? How does no one see the parallels between this kind of crap and what we're fighting against?

I hope this guy keeps fighting the good fight. Jesus, please protect us from some of your alleged followers!

And from Slate, a good editorial on this frightening Iran conference.

Interesting the speaker they disinvited was a Palestinian-- because he believes the Holocaust did happen!

It's not going to end well for Mr. Islamabadajihad.

He wasn't a "young kid" when he said the inflammatory words against Islam that he offered last month, and had to make a four day long apology "visit" to Turkey.

Jerry,
All I can tell you is that I don't have a "dog in this fight".
I don't bet on them, though I know some that do.
Rotweiller vs Pit Bull...for sure it won't be pretty.
Seems to me that they both like red meat and lots of blood for dessert.

Good dogs sleep in front of the fireplace after spending their day guarding the homeplace. They are grateful for ear scratches and belly rubs.
The other ones only want to chew each others faces off.
Maybe those kinds should be "put to sleep" before they hurt someone.

David Duke is one of the biggest idiots in the world. Did you guys read his quote yesterday? He said, "This conference has an incredible impact on Holocaust studies all over the world."

What a joke! The conference will not have any impact on Holocaust studies.

I think psychopath trumps religious fanatic in this guys' case! He obviously does not relate well to Reality....and DDs' 15 mins of fame are already done!

All these haters are actually very similar to each other in terms of what drives them. It doesn't matter if we're talking about a left-wing hater or a right-wing hater like DD. There is a psychological phenomenon that goes on with these people. The hate is actually a defense mechanism.

With haters from both sides, you have to remember that the hate has very little to do with the people they hate. Let's take DD for example. His hatred for Jews and Blacks has nothing to do with the behavior of those groups. DD is just a very unhappy person. He is pretty much a complete loser with too much time on his hands. I don't know that much about him personally, but in most of these cases the anger at the person or group is simply displaced anger. DD is obviously a very angry and unhappy person. Instead of looking at himself and figuring out why he is so angry and unhappy, he displaces his anger on Jews and Blacks. In his mind, all of his problmes are because of Jews and Blacks. He doesn't need to take responsibility for anything. His failure in business is because of the Jews.

It's not uncommon to see this type of displaced anger in our society. I see it from just as many people on the left as the right. When a person is basically obsessed with a person or group, and all the person does is bash that person or group, it is never about the person or group being bashed. It is about the person doing the bashing. You can actually tell quite a bit about the person even if you don't know any personal details about them. The main thing that is obvious is that the person is usually a very unhappy person and they usually have a lot of anger inside.

A happy, satisfied, and content person is not going to be obsessed with some person or group and be bashing the person or group every day. It's just not going to happen. A happy person has better things to do with their time.
