Domino theory..again

Interesting op-ed.
I'm just putting it up because it might provide "food for thought".
Seems we've heard the "domino theory" in the past.

Timm, with our men and women dying over there, with no solution in sight, this is one of the most important issues of the day-- what would you prefer-- he post endless articles about Paris Hilton and her latest human pet?

Sadly, I think most of America would prefer that, now that I think about it... :(

How are you, by the way? :)

Timm,
Obviously you'd rather keep your head firmly planted in the sand.
"Chewing the cud" involves grass. Speaking of which, you should cut down on smoking it.
Seems that many people are concerned about the "direction" our great country is headed under the "leadership" of the emporer they voted for.
Don't blame me for calling attention to his failure.
I didn't create it, he did.
I also never voted for the phoney (stay the course) cowboy.
Yes, it's a "fun" topic. I get to remind the idiots of the consequences of their decisions. Now, if only the "decider" could decide.
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/1213-10.htm

Again, if you have nothing to comment on concerning the "topic", either put your head back under the sand, maybe it will go away (seems to be Dubbya's "thinking lately), or better yet...don't comment at all. In the words of the Fogerty song..."It ain't me, babe, it ain't me! I ain't no fortunate son!"
Leave me out of your delusion, Timm.
Thx.
DTS

Timm,
Read this. Then discuss.
The op/ed , not me...ok?

DTS: you're quick to assume I'm attacking you,but I'm not. I'm just saying you have so much more to offer us than to kick Bushes butt every other day. Yeah..I'm probably sensitive to it more than most...but only because I see these faliures as lost opportunities to bring America Back to greatness! And I mourn every day the lost lives of our great people in the service. Also...I don't think it's fair of you to call me an idiot for using a voting booth to voice my choice. What happened to the gentle horseloving DTS?

GR: that's SOME choice you give me! It's a great board and DTS has merit....so that's my answer. I'm hanging in there otherwise...just trying to sort everything out for Christmas. Best Timm

Timm,
Thanks for the clarification.
I agree that America is on the wrong track. Day by day our great country is diminished. The lost lives spent on this stupidity is beyond my tears.
So if bringing awareness to the situation on a little corner of the internet in an "off topic" room at a horse racing site generates some consciousness,
I'll do it.
Here's a quote...
"The greatest tragedy that allows the continuance of injustice, is for good men (and women) to remain silent."

I mourn for ALL the lost lives, military, civilian, and those that endure their loss.
Peace.

Downthestretch55 12-13-2006 04:21 PM

Timm,
Here's a follow up...
http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/45466/

Let's just expose the liars for what they are.
Does anyone like being lied to?
I don't think so.
Let's just expose the frauds for what they are before they do continued damage.
They have no shame.
They DO have excuses and "justifications".
It's not selling with me, nor 75% of the American people.
Let's bring our great country back to the promises of truth on which it was founded.
When we stand on truth, we're on firm ground.
Let those that don't, fail in the quagmire of their own creation.

Bush is terrible. He is the worst. But you know who else is terrible? Tony Blair. What about him? Tony Blair is a terrible and evil man. He's been side by side with Bush throughout this whole thing. He is pretty much as bad as Bush. Don't you guys think?

Rupert P,
It is written that "If a blind man follows another blind man, they both end in the ditch."
My hope is that they don't continue to drag us all along with them.

I don't follow either of them. See my latest post in "Lessons learned from chickens...lambs".

I think I'll pass on that thread. I read the first 6-7 posts in that thread a couple of weeks ago and there was nothing clever or worthwhile in there IMHO. I haven't read it since. I would actually be curious if there is anyone on this entire board that finds that thread worthwhile in any way. Are there any of you out there?

You should still feel free to continue the thread even if nobody likes it. As long as you are entertaining yourself, that is all that matters.

Every President we have ever had in my lifetime has been "blind". Every one of them was bombing somebody. Bush got us into Iraq. Clinton was bombing Bosnia. Bush senior was bombing Iraq. Johnson was bombing Vietnam, etc.

These blind fools keep leading us into the ditch.

Well Rupert, thank you ever so much for telling me that I'm free.
If you'd like to be my "critic"...go for it!
Take your poll if need be.
I find it worthwhile to express my views. If you need to generate consensus as to why I shouldn't, perhaps you can gain allies somewhere.
Maybe, Russia?
Heck, they kill people for that.
Do me a favor, ok? If you don't like what I write, don't read it, you f'n fascist!
Don't call on your bullies to discourage my creativity, nor arrest me in the middle of the night. Last I heard, the United States was a free country where citizens were constitutionally guaranteed "FREE SPEECH!"
"Sieg Heil!" Rupert! ""Sieg Heil!"
Deny me if you dare!

I belive I said exactly the opposite. My quote was "You should still feel free to continue the thread even if nobody likes it. As long as you are entertaining yourself, that is all that matters."

That was a nice "projection" on your part. You were actually trying to silence me. You became furious that I expressed my opinion. You even called me a f'n fascist. I had no problem with you expressing your opinions. I encouraged you to continue. Yet you became furious at me expressing my opinion. So who is the fascist?

Downthestretch55 12-13-2006 05:31 PM

Rupert,
Are you denying that you typed this?
"I would actually be curious if there is anyone on this entire board that finds that thread worthwhile in any way. Are there any of you out there?"

At least Timm went back and edited what he wrote, however, I quoted his words first. Nice try Timm.
Rupert,
You must realize that I dislike liars. Go back and reread the thread.
If that's what you are..fine. i'll just show you for what you are.
Here's an example of another one:http://www.commondreams.org/views06/1213-20.htm

I absolutely said that, but I also said that you should continue the thread if it makes you happy.

You can claim that you're in favor of free speech all you like, yet when someone says something that you don't like, you start swearing at them.

By the way, I didn't realize that your threads are exempt from critique.

It makes me happy.
Dealing with those that try to gain consensus for preventing my free speech gives me a "head ache".
Thanks for your permission for allowing me to continue.

Between you and me, Rupert, you seem to have an "attitude".
Critique is ok...but you said yourself that you didn't read "lambs".
Oh well...
Have a nice evening, I've spent far too much time on this "dead end (er)".

DTS: I didnt edit ....I added. I would have to edit something if it was in poor taste(I rarely have poor taste) or if I spelled something wrong! If you can find one, I'd be glad to clarify any misunderstanding!

I wasn't trying to gain a consensus for preventing free speech. I wasn't even trying to gain consensus as to the unpopularity of the thread. I didn't ask for a vote. I was simply asking whether there was even a single person who found the thread to be enlightening or entertaining.
