Florida Derby Noms

a/k/a Ridiculously early case of Derby Fever

http://www.gulfstreampark.com/NR/rdo...yNoms12606.pdf

Besides the 2 year olds who we've already heard from like Street Sense, Nobiz like Shobiz, Circular Quay etc. I like to start looking up horses who may (or may not) make some noise in the upcoming months. Helps pass the cold winter. :D I've seen a few run, but if anyone has more information I'd be greatful. Here is my list:

Diamond Fever - Seeking the Gold - Radiant Ring (Halo) trained by Matz

Electricity - Storm Cat - Heavenly Prize. Phipps/McGaughy nominate this full brother to Good Reward, Pure Prize

First Defence - Unbridled's Song - Honest Lady. Frankel/Juddmonte half brother to Phantom Rose. My very early Derby Goo-Goo horse. :)

Gabriel's Hill - A.P. Indy - Lailani one of the many noms of Darley & trained by Eoin Harty

Grasshopper - Dixie Union - Grass Skirt. Farish/Howard

Longley - Seeking the Gold - Personal Girl. Graham Motion trainer

Mandurah - A.P. Indy - Morning Pride. Another Darley boy trained by Harty

Marchfield - A.P. Indy - Pico Teneriffe...canadian bred, Queens Plate bound for Melynk?

Mr. Sidney - Storm Cat - Tomisues Delight $3.9M yearling, LOVED this guy, 3/4 to Bluegrass Cat bought by Circle E & trained by Kimmel

No Reply - Deputy Commander - Regrets Only. Darley purchased for $475OBSMAR, trained by McLaughlin

Point Gold - Point Given - La Chaposa (PER) Mott trained 1/2 to You and I and Chaposa Springs

Point of Reason - Forest Camp - Pretty Reason. $825K FTFEB Winstar/Pletcher

Positive Force - Storm Cat - Brushed Halory. $2.2M Darley purchase

Sahara Heat - A.P. Indy - Sahara Gold

Sam P - Cat Thief - Affirmed Legacy (Affirmed) recent winner at Churchill for Pletcher, although the funnest part is he has Alydar on the top of his pedigree and Affirmed on the bottom. :p

Sandwaki - 1/2 to Quiet Royal, dam is a 1/2 sister to Dare and Go. Group 3 winning colt in France, now trained by Pletcher

Seeking No More - Dynaformer - out of very useful dam, Seeking Regina

Shaami - Gone West - Keeper Hill. Shadwell/McLaughlin connections

Time Squared - Fupeg - Indy Glory $1.05M KEEAPR. Biancone trainer

Longley

I too love to follow the 2y olds as they mature, and have posted a couple lists of my own on here. Several on your list are on mine also. I show Mr. Sidney with no works since 7/8, Shaami and Time Squared have yet to run.

Birdbirdistheword is a nice one, I think. I really like Forty Grams as well.

These are now working but have yet to run. BUDDY HUMOR, BULLET RAIN, CAT BRULAY, CAT'S FOLLY, CHIEF GONE WEST, CLEVER COMMANDER, COUNSELLED, FINE FLYER, GAME AP, GO ALL IN, GRAND STRIKE, HAY LAKE PHIL, HIGHWAY PATROL, HONOR GUARD, I'LL GET HOME, INFORMED, JUST JULIAN, KETCHIKAN, KID POKER, LENINGRAD, MAN IN HAVANA, MERCHANT MARINE,AND MY GOLDEN OPINION. Check these out. Add them to your watch list if you think they are worthy. If they haven't ran by January they will be off my Derby list. I may keep them as several could do well in the preps or later.

Well we have several 2y old winners that look good. With over 35,000 racing each year, there are many yet to be heard from. As I like a colt to have at least one race under his saddle before they enter the Spring run, I have several to offer up that are working now but have yet to run. If they do run before next year(or early on next year) and prove their worth, they could be the talk of the Derby run. Here are several working/yet to run that could be good ones: Needhams Fort, On Eagles Wings, Owen, Pavarotti, Samhoon, Shaami, Shining Armor, Short Cake, Silver Poet, Son of Pegasus, Spencer, Tenacious Star, Tenfold, Time Squared, Warrior's Vow, Washington Street, Western Flight, and Whistled. Check them out. Add them to your watch lists. You heard them first from this crazy guy!

I get ridiculed on some sites for my "lists", but, hey I enjoy making and sharing them. That's their problem, this old man is having fun.

the mare (shining through) has a really nice filly this year by elusive quality...the owners are going to keep her (it's the mares first filly) and race her.

Venetian Sunset (RIP) was one of the finest looking horses (besides Bernardini of course) I have seen, she throws some beauties.
