He won the sprint race in DBX. He had surgery over the summer I believe...chip removed???

SCUDSBROTHER 12-05-2006 03:05 PM

If he is still trained by Sal Gonzalez, then he will need some luck. That guy is sub-freezing.I think he didn't win a race at Del Mar,and hasn't won yet at this HWD meet.Don't know about Oaktree.

Yes he is still trained by Sal Gonzalez. What does how Sal Gonzalez's other horses are doing on the track have to do with the performance of his best horse, who has already won one of the most premier races for sprinters in the world? I mean is it Proud Tower Too's fault that the 10K claimers arent popping? Means absolutely nothing. This particular horse proved he can win with or without the juice. They dont let that nonsense go on in Dubai.

When P T TOO was running(and winning,)this guy was having no problem winning races.Right now he has one 3rd place finish from 14 starts at this meet.Yes,he has cheap horses, but he was winning with those cheap horses(back when P T Too was running.)I'll let him start winning races, before I consider anything live from that barn.Look at Knapp claim horses. They usually don't run anywhere near as well as they just did when he claimed them. The figures drop right away.

uscrules 12-05-2006 05:17 PM

Interesting. To be honest, I didnt really follow his other horses while Proud Tower Too was hot to the touch last winter. I know that he has cheap horses and you may say this horse was at one time cheap, but he turned into a world beater. I wouldnt put too much stock in his chep ones, rather like the poster who started this thread, interested in seeing his return, probably targeting the Malibu and a defense of his title.

plenty of trainers who toil away, winning nothing...and then one special horse comes along--and other than that one, they still win with nothing else. having a talented horse doesn't necessarily translate into having a talented trainer.

uscrules 12-05-2006 06:03 PM

My point exactly. This horse obviously has major talent. This trainer found a diamond in the rough. 90% of this horse's success is from his talent, not from what this guy is doing in the mornings.
