Buffy, season #8

Well, finally there is a release date for the Dark Horse comic series which will be a direct followup to season #7...Buffy #1 will be available on March 7, 2007...selling for $2.99, the 32 page comic will pick up where the series left off. The important aspect is of course that Joss is writing it with art by Georges Jeanty. I'm not a big comic guy but I do have the 3 Firefly/Serenity issues and will of course buy this since Joss is writing it and it will indeed be true to the series!

FYI, Somer, Jane Esperson, one of the best writers from "Buffy," wrote this week's episode of "Battlestar Galactica," for which, as we know, I'm somewhat of an annoying evangelist... but seriously, it's the best written show on TV!

GR,
Yes, I love Jane's work, I try and keep up with her projects...there were many wonderful writers in the Whedonverse but certainly she is one of my favorites! Have you visited her site? She always has something worth reading there!

Jerry,
As far as I know, it's not on TV in this country at the present...may still be on in Europe, Asia or Australia...not sure. I just finished watching all 7 seasons in order two days ago, watching season 1 of Bones now on DVD.

The thing with Buffy is that it has a huge fan base and we are very loyal, but most of us have seen every episode numerous times and have the DVD collection so getting a large audience now would require bringing new viewers in...again, many new folks are introduced to the show by word of mouth but that is usually done by folks like me and often we simply play the DVD's for them, the other method involves all the scholarly activities...college courses, seminars and papers published in various disciplines regarding the show. This reaches new folks but to a limited degree. To increase the fanbase now to the degree that a network would benefit would require investment...since that has never happened, I don't see it happening now!

I liked the old Battlestar Galactica with Loren "Alpo" Greene and the robot/dog
good 70's in space type stuff, I miss Loren Greene & Merlin Olsen in prime-time

The only robot dog I knew as a kid was K9 from "Doctor Who." Even back then I was a PBS nerd...

Okay, also I was a fan of "Buck Rogers" (for the first season, anyway) because I wanted to be Wilma Deering when I grew up. :) I like the new "BSG" because now I want to be Starbuck when I grow up!

Richard Hatch (the original Apollo) has a great recurring character on the new BSG. He's a much better actor now than he was back then. Though his haircut is exactly the same.

speakin of the dog, did anyone watch South Park when Cartman froze himself so he didnt have to wait for the Wii, and he ended being frozen like a few hundred years later. They had that dog from BG

And see, I thought it was a "Who" reference because the dog's name was "K-10." Holy cow, that was a funny episode. Though the one I just saw, the 9-11 Conspiracy/Who left a dookie in the boys' urinal one, had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. I'm not normally a person for scatalogical humor, but oh... my... gawd...
