Oaklawn seems to be the place to go, but I just read on DRF that Saturday's card which includes the Rebel Stakes has been shifted to Sunday because of low temps here in Hot Springs.

Oaklawn can’t catch a break this winter.

Me too. I have reserve seats so I'll be watching and wagering(probably losing my money. Looks like a very tough card:() Not sure how this change to Sunday effects us since I've never known our group to play on a Sunday. Wouldn't bother me, but there may be those that it would.

I'm for Saturday. You don't change horses in mid stream. Just like our 4 horse points minimum.

It would be a daring departure from conventional thought to do our contest on a Sunday even though the races would pretty much be the same whatever day we chose, but that said, Santa Anita might still be the better choice as there is no guarantee that Oaklawn won't cancel on Sunday because temps will still be freezing on Saturday night and there is moisture on the ground here because of snow. Supposed to be 56 degrees on Sunday, but whether the track would thaw out or not is anyone's guess.

Turfway Park also has big fields and the Battaglia for 3 year olds. Too many maiden races for my liking but it is another option.

Because of the time differences, what might appear as a night race at Meydan on Friday can be seen in the US fairly early on Friday morning. I've been competing in an online contest hosted by Godolphin that focuses on the Dubai Winter Carnival and have had to make sure that I'm up early on Fridays to check for scratches and make sure my picks are entered. And it live in the Eastern time zone. Our players in Mountain or Pacific time would have even more difficulty. Getting information for handicapping can be challenging - the best source is often the bookmakers in England, which is more than a little ironic. I don't think it lends itself to our contest for several reasons.

No thanks. I'll have to pass on races outside North America and I'm really not all that crazy about races from Woodbine on the Poly. The lack of info on those overseas races is the thing, then again, even if you have info, there will be horses like Magnitude, but even he seemed like more of a sure thing than that horse that finished 2nd to him last weekend.:zz:

Incidentally, I think Turfway canceled today because of snow. Should be okay for Saturday?
