I'm a Lakers fan and while Kobe is a great player, he couldn't hold Jordan's jockstrap.

It might be happy times in LA LA Land right now but lets not go overboard considering the majority of their games have been at home.

Jordan would average 45+ playing under today's rules. He could score at will. Kobe is unbelievably awesome but he's not at Jordan's level. And his defense is nowhere near what it used to be. He used to always put the clamps on Michael Redd. Did u notice Redd light him up for 45 the other night? Kobe's defense was always above average but people really underestimate the importance of having Shaq behind him. It freed him up to take a lot more risks on the perimeter because he knew if he got beaten, Shaq was back there to cover for him.

Last night's display was awesome by Kobe. Another in a career of awesome moments. But until I can see Kobe average 35 with 6-7 boards and 6-7 assists, until I can see Kobe go a couple of months averaging a near triple-double, until I can see Kobe lose his point guard and go off on a string of seven straight triple-doubles and 10 in 11 games, I can't put him at MJ's level. Looking back on that 1989 season and that stretch where Collins asked Jordan to play more point guard, he averaged 33.6 points, 10.8 boards, and 11.4 assists, while shooting 51% from the field. And he did it without one of Kobe's favorite weapons, the 3-pt shot. He only made two during the 11 games. For that season:

Jordan had 15 triple-doubles that season
Five more near misses (one board or assist short)
31 double figure rebound games (high of 14 done five times)
28 double figure assists games (high of 17)
First half of season-34.7 p, 8.2 r, 6.8 a.....three triple-doubles
Sec half of season-30.2 p, 7.9 r, 9.3 a.....12 triple-doubles

Kobe can score with the best of them under today's rules and nobody knows how Jordan would do with today's rules. But Jordan's ability to play the complete game is what sets him apart. Whatever is needed, that's what he could do. He could have led the league in rebounding or assists had he so desired. Kobe has all of the same skills just not the same amount of said skills. U know how many games Kobe had with double figure rebounds or assists last year? Two of each. He just doesn't measure up to MJ. If u want to find the closest to MJ, u have to look in Cleveland at LeBron James.

And, by the way, you pretty much covered every overrated and mediocre tourist trap in NYC.

Oh boy are u gonna pay for this. U might make Dixie mad and he might call u a moron or something and maybe, just maybe, u'll make his ignore list. U are pushing it buddy. U should know that the obvious answer is that as well travelled as Dixie is, as important a man as he is, the most important thing to him is having his laptop on the ready so that he can talk to us. Even during the most important moments in history, all of which he was present at (if u look closely, u can see him in DiVinci's "Last Supper), we are first and foremost on his mind. That kind of love and dedication should be praised and not mocked.

He'll probably say he made the post at halftime in the celebrity lounge whilst talking to Jack about the good ol' days. Dixie is a superstar like that.

He's in Santa Monica.

I invited you to the Winner's Circle @ SA, you were a "no show".

Come into the Polo Bar and we'll catch a Laker game. You can even bring a laptop.

Kobe/Labron? Give me a break.................

U've never once invited me to the winner's circle anywhere. Don't make it seem like I was a no-show. U've countless times told people on various forums to meet u at such and such place and thus far, YOU have never shown up.

The invite to you was on TT's when we were getting along reasonably well. Be that as it may, the invite to the Polo stands. The name of the horse was Kfar Danielle. The listed owner was R. F. Frankel, Trainer same. Danielle is my daughter's name. I mentioned it in the post. Your selective memory is demeaning to your character.

Hate to see you always knocking Kobe. You used to be good on hoops.

How am I knocking Kobe? I think he's a wonderfully talented player, one of the best in the game today and when it's all said and done, will go down as one of the best ever. Just because I don't think he's on MJ's level doesn't mean I'm knocking him. Nobody I've ever seen is on MJ's level. The closest I've seen have been Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James. I'm talking about in the ability to do all things at the highest levels. Jason Kidd is a triple-double machine but he can't score anywhere near the level those others could. I'm sure Oscar Robertson would be on that list too but I've only seen highlights. I never watched him play an actual game so I can't honestly evaluate him but the numbers say he's actually the head of the class.

Seattleallstar 12-01-2006 01:40 PM

id risk my life id beat Kobe in a 3pt shooting contet,

Well, after his perfectly reasonable explanation, astonishly given in spite of my being on ignore, I'm sure we are all quite confident he was at the Laker game.

Or heavily sedated.

I'm a little tied up right now, however, tracking down the actual origin of Kfar Danielle's name. If only that bad man King Glorious had possessed the courage to join the benevolent Dixie in the Winner's Circle.
