Would a box all 10 cent superfecta make sense???

I was thinking, most 10 cent superfectas pay in the 100s right? Well if it was an 8 horse field and I just boxed ALL of them in a 10 cent play at Hollywood Park, would that cost more than what I'd probably get back?

8 x 7 x 6 x 5 = 1680

1680/10= a $168 bet

Over time you would lose the takeout on each bet which compounded means you would eventually go broke.

Oops looking at some payouts most of them were under $1000 for $1. Most of them were around $500 which means a 10 cent box all would get me $50 which is less than the $168 it takes to box all.

So that was a bad idea of mine lol.

It makes sense to wheel. Put the longshots first and second and then go all with all. My wife will play this ticket in a 10 horse field

5/5/all/all. She has hit a couple of nice ones. And she doesnt put anything under 10-1 in the first two slots.

Bethani and I played a 5 horse .10 super for the first time a couple weeks ago ($12) and hit. Payed $100. That ratio (8-1+) is about right for the way I play. Doubt I'll play it much, but it's a fun action bet when you see a group of horses at big prices and you can't formulate a coherent opinion. That's pretty much what happened with the play mentioned... One 7-2 horse mixed in with four horses from 8-1 to 20-1. The 7-2 was third or fourth and the other prices juiced the payoff.

But Sunday at Hollywood, Bethani and I hit a $424 tri keying the 'obvious' horse on top with five underneath ($20). The $1 payout was $212, so we got 10-1 in a far less risky bet.

Steve-

This is my favorite bet. If you have the balls and luck to put a price on top, the payouts can be extraordinary.

3 horses on top of five will cost 60 bucks with a realistic chance of a nice tri.

Going off on a bit of a tangent here, but my last year my friends calculated that you would have a huge ROI by playing all/all exacta boxes in the Derby over the past 10 years or so. Even without the Giacomo race, you still would be positive.

Largest dime super I've hit has been close to 500 for a 2.40(4horse box) I realized the long range implications....and started paying attention to Kasept/Hooves writeups and am a well adjusted trifcta bettor now,LOL
