Belmont Infield

What are they digging up? Are they building something on the infield? I saw it on the FS2 feed today

Probably the new synthetic course they're building to be used in winter and for off-the turf races. For the latter, I'd much rather bet short fields on a sloppy track than a synthetic crapshoot.
