Contest Venue for April 22 - Keeneland

Just over two weeks to go until Derby Day!! Many horseplayers are looking at replays of prep races, watching final workouts, studying pp's and trying to keep track of musical jockey chairs. It can be a very time consuming process, but somehow having the Derby winner can give one bragging rights for the rest of the year.

With that in mind, I'd like to keep the workload light this Saturday. Let's stay at Keeneland for the full 10 race card that begins at 1:00 PM Eastern. It looks like an interesting and competitive card.

I will admit to another reason for choosing Keeneland this Saturday. One of the entrants in the co-featured Elkhorn is Red Knight, whom I've been following and rooting for since he was a 3 year old in the Bill Mott barn. He has become a long distance turf specialist and the 1 1/2 miles of the Elkhorn should suit him just fine. He's now in the barn of Mike Maker, who has been very careful in selecting races, knowing that this 9 year old loves to run but just can't keep going forever. He faces what appears to be a salty field, including his old buddy Channel Maker, another 9 year old against whom he has run on many occasions.

Well done JB, although Keene has not been kind to me. Perhaps the Ouija board will help.;)
