8/3: Saratoga Race 1 - Jonathan Kiser Novice Steeplechase Stakes
 

The Jonathan Kiser Novice is the steeplechase race of the day.

No Lasix plays a major role again in this stakes race.

I had a bad miss last week when trainer Keri Brion and jokey Parker Hendriks teamed up for the win. Parker Hendriks has 1st call for Keri Brion and Parker chose #3 Going Country after riding #5 Howyabud and the scratched #2 Theocrat. In addition, #3 Going Country does not use Lasix.

Trainer Keri Brion’s earnings over hurdles are by far the best of all trainers with over $500K. Trainer Jack Fisher is next with $300K and Leslie Young is next at $280K. Trainer Leslie Young earned over $200K over post and rail timber fences. Timber races highlight stamina and jumping ability while hurdle races highlight speed and agility.
