April 23 Keeneland Points Picks go here

We are staying in Lexington, KY for our third Saturday in a row at Keeneland. We are playing the full 10 race card that includes the Grade 2 Elkhorn and the Grade 3 Ben Ali.

Please have your selections for the points contest posted on this thread not later than 1:00 PM Eastern time.

Good luck to all and thank you to Plenilune for scoring.

Does anyone know which races are using which finish lines? Where is this information, for all tracks?

Eclipse 04-21-2022 06:38 PM

R1 6-5-2-3-1-4
R2 10-8-4-1-7-6
R3 8-1-6-2-5-4
R4 5-1-6-2-9-7
R5 5-3-1-8-9-7
R6 1-3-5-8-2-4
R7 11-5-1-1-7-3-8
R8 5-7-3-4-2-8
R9 4-3-5-9-6-8
R10 1-3-9-4-1-2

I picked extra horses because I have to submit these today since I'll be out of state without internet from tomorrow AM until late next week. If I should win this I guess let the second place finisher pick next week's venue, or if I can nominate someone make it Indian Hemp. I hope to be back in time to play next week but am not sure. Good luck all and thanks to the scorekeepers. :)

ECLIPSE
You probably don’t know this
but I was told a long time ago
I was not permitted to give any extra pics in the points entry :zz:

Just so you know :)

JolyB 04-21-2022 07:19 PM

Eclipse - I have to echo what Ruffian said. We are only allowed to make 5 selections for each race in the points contest. Remember that you are only scored on how your first three selections perform. The extra two are a crude way of protecting contestants against the risk of late scratches or, if you need to post your picks before scratches are available, against up to two of your picks being scratched.

As to your first question, I think that you can get this information from the Equibase pp's (up at the top along with the other race conditions). Not absolutely sure of that however.

Look up in the upper right hand corner of both daily racing form and brisnet past performances and you will see a small representation of the track with both the start and finish lines and the distance of the race.

I think Eclipse was going to be out of range but wanted to participate. I'd be okay if we X out the scratches and take the first three as the entries. I don't know what everyone else thinks.

Alli, I'm pretty sure that when Plen scores the points contest, she would be able to simply ignore any selections posted by Eclipse beyond the permitted 5. She could then do the scoring for Eclipse like for all of the rest of us. If that is how she chooses to handle the scoring, I would fully support her decision.

It is very clear that Eclipse was making a good faith effort to participate in the contest knowing that an internet connection wouldn't be available and didn't know all of the rules.

Thank you all. I certainly wasn't trying to manipulate anything or violate any rules, just didn't know how to handle situation nor have time to ask ahead of time, figured if I were violating anything it would be corrected in whatever fair way. I'm glad I didn't win so no further issues to deal with, probably just won't participate in this kind of situation in the future.

Also thanks for the info on how to find out the finish lines. I briefly checked, seems you need an account and maybe pay money to get PPs from DRF and Brisnet, but can get a free trial, could do that then get and record all info on all tracks with multiple finish lines and save it during that trial to be able to know it all for free. Thanks again! :)

Free past performances are available at several sites. Type in free past performances and then choose free past performances for horse racing and several sites will come up then choose horse racing.net and I think it says some thing about past performances for trainers. Then you will see a whole list of PPs for trainers and also breeders and there is a separate one for horses. Not an exhaustive listing, but pretty close. You may not find a horse under the Sire listing, but it may be under the Breeder. For example, I'm not sure that Animal Kingdom is listed under the Sire list, but he is under the Breeder which is Darley. It will likely take you a while to know which horses are under which breeders. I still don't know them all. Also, you might not find a listing anywhere for some state bred races for sires that are not much known outside that particular state.
