Upon further review.. CHRB wrong again on Modern Games
MONDAY CHRB ADVISORY
Concerning the 10th race at Del Mar on Friday, November 5, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf: Upon review of available videos showing the horses in the gate prior to the start of the race, the CHRB has determined that #1 Modern Games (IRE) did not rear up in the gate, as was initially reported to the CHRB by the veterinarians at the gate. The starter and assistant starter took protective steps by leading the horse out of the front of the gate. The horse did not break through the gate on its own, as was originally thought. The CHRB is conducting a full investigation of this matter. |

They kind of lost me when their former chairman was attacking me on Twitter for not caring enough for the hit the BC took ( among other things I should have cared more about than horseplayers ).

I'm waiting for Konk to weigh in. Should be good.
|
They should have left them all backed out. Delayed 10 minutes and put Modern Games back in the pools. It really screwed multi-race players. Not sure there is much they can do to fix this now, but it will definitely drive down their handle on multi-race wagers in the future.

Horse racing needs to eliminate the "Runs for Purse Only". You have a non betting interest that can affect the outcome of the race or in this case win the damn thing.
|
In my view when the decision was made to let Modern Games run for purse money after being scratched, the horizontals should have immediately been declared an ALL payout.
It's really not that difficult. People would still be bitching (rightfully so) because what occurred was completely inexplicable, but at least in this action there is a hint of propriety and care for the bettors rather than the this ongoing CYA sh1tshow which is sadly unsurprising. |

I agree with that |
Vet should have full control.
