Worst Breeders Cup Ever?

I’d say so

Dahoss 11-07-2020 12:26 PM

I get that they can’t really say anything but listening to the Breeders Cup team showering these connections with praise is an embarrassment.

I was pretty excited about this Breeders Cup. The sport never fails to let you down

Kurt Becker announcing Breeders Cup races furthers the embarrassment.

Bush league

If Brad Weisbord is in the winners circle I might break my TV.

A quality horse. A good horse. A good story. But a BC winner? Whitmore? On a day that track records are given out like gifts to an Oprah audience, this was a rather pedestrian effort.

Maybe so. He's looking like a really good horse.

All that's missing is Max winning by open lengths.

Never ever expected to see an O'Brien tri box pay almost $9k

The horse that just won the Mile has won the equivalent of two allowance races in his career and just beat a pretty accomplished field. Add to it that his trainer was something like 0 for his last 66 or so in North America.

I had one foot out the door anyway. Today that door is closing

One final thought on the Breeders Cup. It’s pretty embarrassing that they messed with the track to the point where so many track records were set.

What was the point of that?

Keeneland should never host another Breeders Cup again.

It was sunny and warm at Saratoga. With climate change it should be in the mix.

I agree. I doubt I’ll ever fully stop playing but this year, with the breeders cup being the cherry on top, has made me question why I still seriously play this game. I feel like I need to go back to the drawing board....its one thing to have a bad year (was far from my worst)....but in the wake of the Servis/Navarro sting I really thought we’d see a scared straight colony. Yet we still see flaws, unexplainable events/horses and then you hear Baffert stumble through an interview...Brad Cox horses performing like Servis horses left and right. I’m a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty and I obviously have no evidence of foul play but I’m also not a complete idiot. It’s clear that this game currently has some unfair advantages. I have no idea who is cheating, who is not...who the great trainers are and who the fakers are. I have some ideas of my own but where does that leave a horse player like me?

I’ve grown skeptical of trainers I used to defend. I’ve grown skeptical of a game I’ve always defended. I’ve seen some really positive growth in the sport of late...technology has brought many positives...podcasts, Twitter, etc give more information/data. Mobile wagering...increased interest since COVID from degens looking for something to bet on....but it just feels like we need make some positive changes, and fast
