ROI Results 12/28 @ Santa Anita
Our last racing card of 2019 provided the group with 5 winning wagers and a profitable day for 3
of our players who collected the points that go with it. Indian Hemp hit a trifecta in race 10 but it wasn't enough to provide a profit. NJ Stinks took the show slot with a win bet on Lady Prancealot in race 6 and collected a profit of $30 for the day. Plenilune swept her two wagers to take second place matching NJS's wager on Lady Prancealot and adding Mirth in the 8th to collect a tidy sum of $250 on the day. Real Quiet edged out Plen by $12 to take the Santa Anita win. RQ had Mirth on top and she rerallied in the stretch to edge out Tiny Tina and the exacta payout of $262 was just enough for the ROI win. Following are the unofficial results pending any objections. I hope 2020 is a better safer year for both horses and jockeys and that our small group continues to give Jane and I the opportunity to score these contests. Completely off topic. Winter weather in New England is never dull; as they so often say, wait 5 minutes and it will change.
Yesterday it seemed as if whoever was in charge of the weather was cleaning out the closet of all of the weather that hadn't been used during the year. The hillier parts of the state had a long period of freezing rain, resulting in broken trees, downed power lines and power outages. Fortunately we were spared all of that. We just had a long stretch of cold rain, followed by a short period of hail, then freezing rain, then sleet, then some snow on top of everything. It was a mess to clean up this morning. We did experience something I had never seen before - as a front was moving through, we had "thunder sleet". In the middle of a sleet segment, there was a flash of lightning and an extremely loud bang of thunder. Apparently when the air is colder, the thunder will reverberate more loudly than in summertime, for it sounded like a howitzer being fired - took me back to my days at Fort Sill. Hope it is better where you are. New Year's Eve should be a lot quieter. |
