VENUE: JUNE 30 = Woodbine + UN

AFTER HAVING MY TAIL ''NIPPED'' AT THE WIRE ~ OUCH!
I FORGAVE JOLY SO WE COULD AGREE ON A VENUE :{>:

:tro: HERE IS WHAT WE AGREED UPON :tro:

WOODBINE
RACE 3—10 (Queens Plate)

MONMOUTH = R11
UNITED NATIONS

GOOD LUCK TO ALL
AND MAY THE HORSE BE WITH YA!

DonGuido 06-28-2018 12:08 PM

Excellent!!! And the horse is always with me win, lose or draw.

JolyB 06-28-2018 01:47 PM

For ROI purposes, for one day and one day only, we will be treating the US Dollar and the Canadian Dollar to be of equal value. I don't think that RQ wants to get involved in computing the exchange rate.:zz:

FYI, the post time for our first contest race (Woodbine Race 3 a/k/a The Charlie Barley Stakes) will be 1:06 PM Eastern time.

It looks as if the US jockey colony will be racking up lots of frequent flier miles. At least 6 leading US based jockeys are listed on mounts at Woodbine, although Javier Castellano is listed on mounts at both Monmouth and Woodbine.

RUFFIAN 06-28-2018 02:15 PM

Possibility?

A TRUE EXAMPLE OF A SPLIT PERSONALITY ;)

To further clarify Joly's point our original bankroll will not be $132.72 but the US equivalent $100 whether you wager on Canadian or New Jersey racing.:zz::D:D:D

DonGuido 06-29-2018 10:23 AM

Aw shucks, I was thinking that extra few dollars and cents would come in real handy but then you'd have to covert to US dollars since we all do live in the good 'ol US of A, I think?:):$:

Timing Is Everything

DON JUAN...
WHAT! NO COMMENT ABOUT THE “QUIRKY” POST TIME => 1:06 <=

And you thought 1:10 PM was kind of odd
This One puts that to shame!

What’s even stranger is that the first race does start at 12 o’clock NOON
But the next race instead of being 12:30 PM it’s 12:33 PM = HUH?!?!?! :zz:

I wish somebody would ask a Track Superintendent
How + Why they come up with these BIZARRE Post Times

JolyB 06-29-2018 11:21 AM

Isn't it much better for those who play multiple tracks to have "quirky" post times rather than having Belmont, Woodbine, Monmouth, Gulfstream and Churchill all going off at 1:00?

When racing secretaries have to schedule the post times of 13 races, I'm sure that they try to do a bit of juggling to fit them all into the afternoon of racing and not overlap with key races from other jurisdictions. That can help improve the handle, which is everyone's goal. From what I have seen, though, once the first race has been run, it is unusual for the rest of the card to go off precisely on the scheduled time. At Gulfstream, for example, when zero minutes to post comes up, the horses might just be entering the track and won't go off for at least another 7 or 8 minutes.

Muchas Grassya$$

JOLY
THANK YOU O WISE ONE! :{>:

Now I Can Rest Easy Knowing WHY!

Of Course The Main Thing Was How Don Thought 1:10 Was ''ODD''
So Naturally, When I Saw: 1:06 I Thought It Was Even Funnier! ;)

ElPrado 06-29-2018 06:49 PM

I'll explain more.
You want to bet 2 tracks' first race. Naturally, you want to watch both. Before internet came along, you could not...without having multiple TV screens, cables, etc.
Now, racing secretaries can stagger gate times to let you see all of the races one after the other.
I actually had a friend that had at least 10 screens going at once, plus closed circuit of his broodmares.
He also owned 2 pool rooms. He had feed from watching the bar and the table the pros played on from each.

Plenilune 06-30-2018 08:25 AM

Won't be able to play again this weekend but I'll be scoring tomorrow evening!

Have fun and good luck to all :)
