Royal Ascot Saturday June 23rd
Race 1:
#10 Natalie’s Joy: Smashing debut with the time to back it up. #4 Duke of Hazzard: Should appreciate the longer trip. Trainer won this a few years ago. #9 Beyond Reason: Further improvement to come. #11: New Winds: Firm turf appears to be what she prefers. Race 2: #3 Crystal Ocean: 4yo continues to rise through the ranks. Coolmore lets Moore ride here… #1 Barsanti: Ultra consistent and proven over this course. A bit unlucky not to win this last year and the form from his first-up run has been strong. #4 Idaho: Can ignore his last as firmer is better for him. Race 3: #5 James Watt: Well backed in both of his starts and has rewarded the punters both times. Form has held up well and will be a much bigger price this time around. #28 Queen of Bermuda #25 World Order #27 Moonlight Romance #9 Kessaar Race 4: #9 Redkirk Warrior: Australia’s best straight-course sprinter is also very versatile…showed a blitzing turn of foot in a last to first victory two back, and was right up there the whole way (on the opposite side of the track to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers) last time out. Conceded 12lbs to #7 in that latter race and is now on even weights. #4 Harry Angel: May be the UK’s best sprinter but vulnerable here as he’s never run his best race at Ascot. He’s 4 0-3-0 on this course and unbeaten in five starts elsewhere. #6 Librisa Breeze: Didn’t seem to appreciate the Meydan track but is proven over this course. Very unlucky in this last year as he was held behind a wall of runners at the crucial point, and was also first-up for the year. #12 The Tin Man: Last year’s winner is undefeated over this course and distance on dry ground. Showed no sign of decline when returning with a solid win. Race 5: #18 Gilgamesh #7 Dreamfield #23 Tiz Marvellous #5 Bacchus #9 Sir Robert Cheval Race 6: #11 Thomas Hobson: If he returns to his best, he simply outclasses them. Ran a grear second in this last year when backing up in four days. #16 Meri Devie: Distance shouldn’t be a problem, but she has to transfer her recent form to the flat, although she was tried at G1 level as a 3yo. #3 Nearly Caught: DQ’ed from the win in Germany last out, nevertheless still a good stepping stone for this. #12 Count Octave: Unproven over this trip but has the class to keep him going. $1 Pick Four Race 1: 1, 4, 9, 10, 11 Race 2: 1, 3 Race 4: 4, 6, 7, 9, 12 Race 6: 11 $50 + cover 4,10/1,3/4,6,9/3,16 ($24) = $74 total Good luck! |

Watching R3 from the sidelines, my bookie is not taking any action on this one :( I was going to play a place bet on the 4
|
28 two year olds. What sheer madness. I have trouble cashing a show bet in a 5 horse race.
Did anyone notice how much ground the #2 Dom Carlos made up to get up for 3rd? One to watch for the future. |

On TV interview, Kirby said 'OK', but Harry Angel convulsed as they sprung latch.. |

You can clearly hear Kirby shouting "no no no no no no no" and as soon as he said "okay" the starter let them go. Didn't know he had a leg caught. Unlucky but hard to blame a single person.
